...Though at times they seem like a post-pubescent version of Hanson, the maturity of most tunes confounds any attempt to categorize them simply as pop. Surging underneath the glittery surface of these tunes is a seriously reflective look at friendship, regret and love. "I Got Friends" examines the pain associated with losing contact with old friends, but in the end hope for the rejuvenation of those relationships. "Only One" looks at boredom and anxiety associated with the fear of taking risks. Buttercup dig reflectively into their subjects and don't fall into the rut of writing empty love songs...

Although a world war may not be going on, corruption in the military and the government runs so rampant today that audiences may find the story both funnier and sadder as a result. The irony in Heller's jokes becomes even more bitter, and the pain found in the show's few tragic scenes cuts even deeper. As an independent piece, the play Catch-22 is indeed humorous and intriguing. But as a commentary on the modern-day world, it becomes a scathingly sharp piece that leaves one laughing in the theatre, but haunted...
