Walks in, I'm standing in my boxer briefs by the bathroom sink, holding cartons of body paint in both hands and wearing a sly grin. She crouches down behind me and whips out a paintbrush. Although there is no evidence in the investigative dossier to corroborate the man's alibi, the examination of his car apparently ruled out the possibility that it had collided with the Mercedes. Chemical analysis of his car's original white undercoat showed that the paint was different from the samples found on the Mercedes. ...another Cheech and Chong road trip. From its groovy arched roof and fenders to a funky blue speedometer, the new Beetle--introduced last week at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit--is a motorized monument to Flower Power nostalgia. All that's missing is a Day-Glo paint job and a roach clip in the ashtray. But the Beetle will be a much trickier resurrection than bell-bottoms now that boomers seem partial to cars and trucks big enough to fit a Bug in the back...
