Psalms, like its predecessor, is a choral work in Hebrew and is scored for a prodigious cavalcade of instruments including a glockenspiel, xylophone, a pair of cymbals, a suspended cymbal, tambourine, triangle, rasps, whip, wood block, three temple blocks, timpani, snare drum, bass drum and three bongo drums. Conductor-Composer Bernstein made the most of them; he went through his entire ballet routine on the podium and had the Philharmonic Orchestra playing like gods, and the Camerata Singers sounding like angels...

Stretched out casually on a plot of Business School grass, the setting sun glinting off his freckled pate and space capsule cufflinks, Glenn talked about himself last Thursday with a pair of Summer News reporters. He came to Harvard to address an annual summer school educators conferencet, being held this year on juvenile delinquency, at the invitation of Dana Cotton, dynamic, multi-titled Harvard administrator. They met one day when Glenn walked into Cotton's office with his son David (now Harvard '68) who was looking the University over...

...obsolescence, as it did last March, when three MIGs took on a flight of U.S. jets twice their speed and bagged a brace. Last week the technological superiority of American planes and weapons asserted itself: missile-armed Phantoms flying combat air patrol 40 miles south of Hanoi nailed a pair of audacious MIGs, sent them flaming to the deck. The run-in proved again that Giap's airmen would face disaster if they came up in force; and Giap's navy has practically disappeared after four months of U.S. air attack...

What is most impressive about this pair is their physical sparring. This has been carefully rehearsed, and one realizes that they are really playing with each other rather than opposite each other. The scene in which Petruchio withholds supper from a starving Kate is one of the few truly comic spots in the show, and it climaxes in Kate's stuffing a string of sausages surreptitiously down her bodice only to have Petruchio extract it. Elsewhere, she takes off one of her two high-heeled slippers to batter Petruchio, which gives a delightful new twist to his line. "Why does...

...Chinese and Malays. Last week, after bellying through the bush near Sarawak's provincial capital of Kuching, a band of some 40 Indonesians in berets and tennis shoes surprised a police outpost, chopped down six Malaysian cops with a burst from a Czech burp gun. Led by a pair of Malaysian exiles, both Chinese Communists, the guerrillas went searching for Chinese peasants loyal to the government of Tunku Abdul Rahman. They killed three in one family, stabbed three men near a bridge on the road to Kuching, and reportedly hanged a Chinese patriarch, in an attempt to scare others...
