This development really sets the story going, but the whodunnit plot, like all the other technical elements, pale in insignificance before the ineffable passion at the film's core. The performers, especially Webb and Andrews, are excellent. The script is fantastic, full of acerbic wit and deadpan humor. The cinematography is suitably noir, but punctuated by bursts of radiance. And the music--ahhh, the music--is like a lover blowing in one's ear. But what really counts in "Laura" is love--from tender affection to sweeping passion. Mark's love for Laura has a desperate edge to it; thinking...
Tripp Tracy's play has been difficult to pinpoint; perhaps his style looked so effortless last season that anything else must pale by comparison. But his GAA has risen to 3.68, and his wild, get-me-the-Maalox style has backfired on several occasions. In fairness to Tracy, on some weekends the Crimson defense hasn't given him as much support as it has Israel, and his form has been better of late. Milton's angels, however, among the most vivid in literature, were robust figures who ate and drank freely. Raphael, in fact, "with a smile that glowed/ Celestial rosy red," blushingly explained to Adam and Eve how angels make love, "Easier than air with air, if spirits embrace, / Total they mix, union of pure with pure/ Desiring...
...noticed. He was tall, dressed rather like Chris usually did, in a flannel shirt, new Levis and lace-up workboots that appeared as if they, too, had just been taken off the shelf. "There was no real age to him," Melissa says. "No wrinkles. Just this perfectly smooth and pale, white, white skin and ice blue eyes. I mean I've never seen that color blue on any human before. They were more the blue like some of those Husky dogs have. I'll never forget the eyes...
