David Binney Putnam (1 4-year-old explorer, 6 ft. ½ in. tall, author of David Goes Voyaging, etc., Hotchkiss schoolboy) and his father, Publisher George Palmer Putnam, offered U. S. Boy Scouts four months of fun and an avenue to fame.
