Since graduating from Harvard, Mr. Sampson has travelled extensively in the Rocky Mountains and in the Mediterranean countries, visiting Jerusalem and Damascus and crossing the desert to Palmyra. In 1903 as U. S. game preserve expert under the Biological Survey he made a tour of nearly 1300 miles, visiting forest reserves in California and Washington with the object of selecting certain areas where large game shall be protected.
