Died. Oscar of the Waldorf (Oscar Tschirky), 84, burly, famed major-domo for half a century; of a heart attack; at his country estate near New Paltz, N.Y. (which he bequeathed as a retirement place for chefs). Never a chef himself, Oscar had an artist's passion for selecting and serving food & drink.
