...Much Fun, a musical based on the short stories of Dorothy Parker, displays a good deal of theatrical talent. Darin Goulet '97 has come up with a viable dramatic structure for some unlikely material, arranging Parker's stories in a revue format that preserves their brief, self-contained style. But communicating the emotional content of Parker's work is a greater challenge, one which the performances at Agassiz Theater last weekend did not quite live up to. The fierce irony and underlying pain of Parker's stories were often lost in this production, which tried too hard to show...
...April 23, Alvin Ailey performed three works: "For 'Bird'-With Love," "Fandango" and "Revelations." The first piece was an all-new production of Alvin Ailey's original "For Bird" of 1984, a tribute to the jazz legend Charlie Parker. ...divorce of Kirstie Alley and Parker Stevenson has hit a snag even before it hits the court. Alley sued for divorce in Maine; Stevenson countersued in California. The difference is that in the Golden State the richer partner typically has to share more of her wealth. Alley maintains that the two vote, register their cars and pay taxes in Maine (where they adopted their two kids). Stevenson says they've lived in California since the '70s. He's seeking spousal support and joint custody...
...going to try to meet with Coach [Harry] Parker and speak to him about crew," Bell said. "I'd just like to get an idea of their practice schedule and how many people are in the program...
