...video's opening scene, a man in red pants, a baggy white t-shirt and a diamond stud in his left ear - similar to Kelly's - sits in a wood-paneled room that resembles a space that detectives photographed in the home Kelly once owned in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood. Then, the man sticks his penis into the female's mouth and offers dialogue that seems taken straight from a porn movie. Jurors who'd taken meticulous notes throughout the day suddenly stopped. One twentysomething white juror put a hand across one of his ears. One middle-aged black...

...Despite the considerable effort evident in the landscaping of the manicured confines of Naypyidaw's Natural Herbal Park and Water Fountain Garden, no people loll in these public green spaces. Indeed, the only place, besides the market, where people seem to be relaxing was at a Buddhist pagoda, where three canoodling couples have sought out shade. But none of the country's omnipresent Buddhist monks appear to have made it to Naypyidaw, not even to its pagoda. Presumably, these instigators of last September's peaceful democracy protests, which were violently suppressed by soldiers aren't overly welcome in a city...

...city-council members representing Harlem. Dickens haggled with city officials to add considerable benefits to the proposal: affordable home-ownership opportunities, a $750,000 forgivable-loan program for businesses that may be forced to relocate, funding for arts and health programs and a $5.8 million enhancement of a local park. None of this mollifies Shange, who says his and other local stores still face closure. "My business has been here through the worst of times," he says. "And now that there will be better times, we're not included." For locals like him who measure progress in terms of reclaiming...

...Holiday performed at the Apollo, and Fidel Castro stayed at the Hotel Theresa. In later decades, Harlem withered as soaring crime rates made it a symbol of urban blight. But since the 1990s, as Manhattan real estate prices have skyrocketed, the district's legacy and its perch atop Central Park have enticed real estate developers searching for the next up-and-coming neighborhood. The rezoning augurs wholesale changes, including luxury office towers and apartments. Much of Harlem is still comparatively poor--the median household income hovers around $27,000--and Barron suspects that these gleaming additions will drive out locals...
