Thayer was professor of Medicine for many years at Johns Hopkins University and some time ago he was made Professor Emeritus. He is a holder of honorary degrees from Washington College and Edinburgh, McGill, Paris and Chicago Universities. During the war he served as chief consultant for the Medical Services, A.E.F.
