...special committee of the corporation, composed of Mr. John Quincy Adams and Mr. Alexander Agassiz, has discussed the subject of a trainer. It is proposed to appoint an assistant to Dr. Sargent, who shall make the scientific study of sports his specialty, and shall look after the men engaged particularly in field sports, and shall be a regular part of the college, not hired by separate men. By a thorough investigation of these particular branches of athletics he will be much better prepared, it is said, than a regular trainer, whose place he will amply fill, but with a more...
...ball players, seems to give general satisfaction to the college. As a concession to athletics, or rather a refusal to interfere with them, the faculty's action is very acceptable to all, but we are inclined to think that many will question the wisdom of the concession of this particular point. The evils which result from constant familiarity with the professional aspect of base ball have become so evident of late that it was no surprise to us when the movement against practice with professionals manifested itself, but we confess we are more than surprised at the way in which...

Princeton has already a strong team. Added to these is New York University and Columbia, and there is quite an array of rivals for Harvard to meet and conquer, if she wishes to retain her supremacy on the lacrosse field. Last year several of the best players left college. There remains, however, enough material for this year's team, but next year will be a doubtful time...
There is a little guide to Cambridge in general, and to Mount Auburn Cemetery in particular, published by Moses King. It contains a history and description of the cemetery, and many views of its monuments, and biographical notes of the noted people buried there. It is the only guide book of its kind now published. It has thirty-one illustrations, and in paper covers sells at thirty cents a copy...
