...game should be somewhat of a pitchers' battle between D. J. O'Keeffe '18 and Talcott. Of the two, O'Keeffe is undoubtedly the more effective, but has been hampered in the past by poor support. During the last two weeks, he has succeeded in developing a spit-ball which should carry him through any tight places today. Talcott will rely mainly on the use of a fast ball, fairly well controlled...
...third and fourth eighths, but Coach Brown has not yet settled on a definite seating order. In addition to the races for University crews, as in former years, there are scheduled championship contests for neighboring preparatory and high schools. Invitations have been sent all those entered in the past two seasons and it is expected that the usual number will compete. However, all the races will be held on one afternoon, and not extended over three or four days, as has been the custom. Comp, single scull and wherry races, open to all members of the University, will also...
...first glance this seems to be an arrangement identical with that which has existed this past winter. But there is in fact a substantial difference. Despite the excellent shooting of many of its members in the range practice for Military Science 1 men at Wakefield during the past two days, the Second Battalion returned to Cambridge yesterday without bettering the average of the First Battalion, made the preceding week. The grand average of the scores in the Second Battalion for members of the first year course only was 119.2, while that in the First Battalion was 119.8. No expert shots were found among the elementary course men this week; 64, however, attained the three lower qualifications. C. L. Wilson '20, of Company F, a member...
This afternoon at 3.30 the Freshman baseball nine will line up against Wentworth Institute on Soldiers Field in what will be the third engagement of the season. Judging from the Freshmen's past record of two victories over Rindge Technical and Worcester Academy by the scores of 17 to 9 and 20 to 3, the first-year men should have no difficulty in coming out on top in today's game. Medholdt, the Wentworth twirler, however, is liable to prove puzzling to the 1921 batters as he struck out 17 men in a game with English High School last week...
