...think Microsoft and Netscape would immediately recall their programs. Instead, both companies are trying to market their way out of this debacle. Microsoft points out that if you've updated to Windows 98, a corrective patch can automatically be delivered to your computer over the Net. If you don't have Windows 98, the company's unspoken message is: Buy it. You can also download the patch manually from the Web, however, without paying Microsoft $89 to fix its screwup (see time.com/personal for instructions). Netscape, which claims the bug is harder to invoke in its software, initially told users...
...unlucky millions who use the affected products, what should you do? Back up your hard drive. Get the patches now. (And if you keep the original programs on disks, label them so you'll remember the patch if you ever reinstall.) Better yet, do what I do: buy a better e-mail program. I've always used Qualcomm's Eudora, which is killer-bug free...
Siouxsie and Cale worked together almost flawlessly; making no attempt to upstage each other. While a battle of egos can be expected when two stars try to share the same patch of sky, this performance showed that a working union between two musicians who hold mutual respect for each other. While Siouxsie had more fans than Cale, the latter musician was given the chance to open the show. While Siouxsie's band gladly played for Cale, he returned the favor by joining them for most of Siouxsie's sets. And while Siouxsie spent her solos in the spotlight, Cale seemed...

If you're using any version of Eudora that precedes 4.0 -- including the free Eudora Light program downloadable from eudora.com -- you're also safe. Furthermore, Qualcomm promises to post a patch on that site as early as Friday afternoon (a far cry from Microsoft and Netscape, who are taking substantially longer to patch up their bugs). If their home page is too busy, or if the Eudora patch (like Microsoft's first attempt) fails to completely debug the problem, you might want to remember what...
WASHINGTON: Still confused about the dress mess? The one at the FBI lab right now is blue, high-necked and from the Gap -- that much we know. But fans of this most salacious patch of the Lewinsky scandal (and who isn't one?) will remember that the media's February frock frenzy included tales of another dress, generally held to be a slinky black cocktail number, that seemed to mysteriously morph into the blue dress in reports this week...
