The sprinters did poorly, picking up only fourths in the 100 and 220, but the explanation is that they were running against some very rapid men, as the winning times indicate. Stroke Charlie Rimmer pushed the stroke up to 38 with a half-mile left, but could not force the Crimson shell into the two-way struggle between the leaders, who widened the distance to a length and a quarter over Harvard before Princeton squeaked...
