There are several others, I think, who deserve special mention. All of the choruses were excellent, following their cues with firecracker timing. The backdrops by John Ratte were strikingly fresh, as was the short but effective appearance of Dorothea Schmidt. The frequent dances of Carol Corby and Patricia Leathem were not frequent enough, and although Gondoliers warrants a trip to Winthrop House, the presence of the two young ladies should be a final clincher...

...Effective. Of those who received vaccine, only 57 developed polio. Of these, only one died: Patricia Redick, 8, of Tulsa. She received her first shot in April, then had her tonsils out, got a second shot in May and died two weeks later. In Patricia's case, two things were wrong: the vaccinations were too late, because Oklahoma's early polio season had already begun, and it has long been known that a tonsillectomy is dangerous when polio threatens. Proportionately, there were 2½ times as many polio cases (142) among children who received dummy shots as among...

Colgate Salsbury lacks the proper touch of fatuous pomposity and caricature in his version of a bumptuous farm manager. But neither man is at all bad in his role. Lee Jeffries and Patricia Leathem are good at saying their lines but have done little to improve on them in a way that might capture attention. The general fault of these highly competent actors is a tendency to make their characters overly intellectual, partly the result of declaiming, rather than feeling, lines...

...interesting phenomena are the two young ladies whose voices are pitched lower than most of the men's. Patricia Hess, as a friend of Amaryliss-Ann, applies her tonal qualities in a manner to give added gusto to the song "Snake Oil." An exotic Radcliffe enticer, Sheila Tobias whirls through "Mink on My Mind." Miss Tobias is smooth with her lines, although she appeared slightly embarrassed while enclosed in a barrel...
