...Olivia Parker (Godine; unpaginated; $15) is a welcome exception. Parker works on a small scale (none of her pictures exceeds 35 sq. in.) that invites close scrutiny and then rewards it. Her subjects are found objects, old photographs, tombstones, pages from books, articles of clothing, sometimes arranged in odd patterns, always rendered in silvery light that makes the old seem new. A favorite pattern is the juxtaposition of fruits or vegetables and constricting frames.
