Brydon is a raffish, truculent blend of peasant guile and blather, while Mitchell Ryan's sodden, dandyish Jim Tyrone is a tarnished peacock straight from Old Broadway. ...FLOWER TO A GARDEN (Epic). Time was when British Folk Singer Donovan, with his dreamy surrealistic ballads, was known as a psychedelic Pied Piper. His new album suggests that he is still a 24-carat hippie; he is photographed decked out in a robe with beads, posies and peacock feathers, and his gentle singsongs ooze various kinds of blissfulness ("His kisses on your brow/You may rest assured peace is coming"). Yet the self-styled minstrel has a stern message to his followers: "Stop the use of all Drugs and banish them into the dark and dismal places...
