Houseman must be censured for so freely using the blue pencil, thereby shortening the play to a running time of only two hours and ten minutes. Of course the two appearances of Hecate should be cut, since they are later interpolations--but this is a matter of only forty or fifty lines. Any further cutting is unwise.
