Once again, Harvard's biggest deficiency is in the shorter runs and hurdles. Junior Karen Gray gave one of her best efforts of the season with an overall second place in the Pentathalon. Gray won the shot-put and long jump, took second in the hurdles and high jump, and third in the 880 to finish with 3024 points--her personal best by over 200 points--but not enough to best BC's Sue Goode who won with 3049 points...

Bennett Midlo, the relay's regular leadoff man, succumbed to tendonitis and was replaced by Pete Rittenburg. Rittenburg, who had placed eighth in the pentathalon earlier in the day, and regulars Scott Murrer, Marc Chappus, and Dave Frim could not make up the difference...

Legendre, a former Georgetown track ace, Pentathalon winner in the Penn Relay Carnivals for three consecutive years beginning in 1919, and winner last year of the National Pentathalon Contest, is, according to Gourdin himself, his most dangerous opponent. In the 1923 Pentathalon event Gourdin came second, but won in 1921 and 1922. Gourdin also rates both West, the champion of last year's and this year's Penn Carnivals, and Osborne of the Illinois Athletic Club strong contenders...
