Another source of concern highlighted by Dan Perlman president of Suffolk University at the press conference where the report was released is the amount of money the state provides for grants in relation to loans. Noting that students are expected to pay back $15 in aid for every $1 they are given he portrayed the "dire economic burden of debt" Some graduate students have a $20,000 debt along with their degrees...

...cadenz to the Beethoven Concerto instead of the numerous Kreisler arrangements of other composers' works. The other pieces on the record are not worth the time or money. Mstislav Rostropovich was there, wrapping his cello in a warm Russian bear hug as he dashed off two movements of a Haydn concerto. Violinists Itzhak Perlman and Isaac Stern were on hand too, the picture of collegial conviviality in a Vivaldi double concerto. But between rehearsals at Carnegie Hall for their separate performances on Gala of Stars, a public-television special airing this month, the two finally attempted a duet-a four-handed Flight of the Bumblebee on Rampal's 14-karat flute. "He's not too bad," said Rampal of his pal, though the performance was "not for musical purposes." Said Perlman, who just won four Grammy Awards: "We could have done better if I had been thinner. Then...
