Adjustable Diesel. The American Locomotive Co. and General Electric turned over to the Army Transportation Corps the first of 83 new diesel locomotives with adjustable wheels that permit them to run on standard U.S. (56 in.) gauge tracks as well as on wider gauge (up to 66 in.) tracks in foreign countries.
