...looks, the presence, the acting chops--not have it all? Because the major studios have yet to fall in love with her. Posey lost out to Sandra Bullock for the Speed role, to Renee Zellweger for Jerry Maguire. Just now she is too indie for the majors, too pert to get the serioso parts that win critics' awards. She's stranded between Tea Leoni and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Where are the leading roles in big films? Why doesn't she have her own Must-See TV series? Couldn't she at least be a Friend...

...benefits of the new store. It provides part-time jobs for teenagers. Of course, so did the other three drug stores. And perhaps the good citizens of Chappaqua will be able to procure Sudafed at a discounted rate. But what's at stake is much more than Trojans and Pert Plus. The small town way of life, it seems, is rapidly disappearing. The clerks in Rite-Aid won't know my name and ask how school's going when I walk in. They won't extend me "credit" when I'm a dollar or two short. Stores like Rite...

...cinema's annual testosterone overdose. Freely and fondly adapting Virginia Woolf's 1928 novel, English filmmaker Sally Potter brings to life a buoyant fantasy world. She imparts a brisk, lush post-modernism to a fable that scans four centuries. But Potter's real triumph is in her pert dressing of an immodest proposal. To be fully human, Orlando says, is to go civilization one better: to be man, then woman, then a blend of the best of both genders. To the battle of the sexes, androgyny is the answer supplied by both Potter and Woolf. "In so many ways...

...particularly tickling scene, the lusty King is charged with the task of teaching lady-in-waiting Dulcibella (Elijah Aron) how to impersonate an alluring princess. Aron squirms delicately, wincing with dim-witted charm as Brown gropes after her (his?) pert, irresistable tennis-ball bosoms. Aron's hysterical Dulcibella is reminiscent of Woody Allen in some of his more slapstick roles. And Aron's boobs stand out to such a degree that they seem to have their own personality...
