...Yeah, Pete was there. He stayed. But, you know, he's not a lot of fun, Pete. He can dance, sort of, in that stomp-stomp way of his. But that's not much fun. He's looking old, and of course he's off the market...

...Andre was there, yeah. He came with Steffi. They say she's pregnant! He's still cool. I like Andre. Who doesn't? But it's soooo sad. He just hasn't looked himself, the last three parties. He had some fun with Pete but . . . .Well, I'm not sure he's excited about it anymore, what with Steffi. Andre left about quarter-of. The boys without Andre, I mean, c'mon - there's no one, they're so nothing...

Same story there: both are fed up with the chamber and realize their party won't recapture it for a while. Domenici, who wielded considerable clout as Budget Committee chairman, now has to sit back and grit his teeth while Democrat Kent Conrad runs the show. Thompson has only $544,000 in his campaign bank and hasn't yet announced whether he'll seek reelection...

...always looking for new ways to ride waves," says Pete Cabrinha of his Maui, Hawaii, surf fraternity. Enter their latest obsession: kiteboarding, a hybrid, extreme sport that is a cross between windsurfing and wakeboarding. A rider is harnessed to a giant kite as he steers a board that is strapped to his feet. The allure: taking off and soaring 50 ft. above the water as you glide over the waves, then perhaps dropping in on one. If that's not enough, copy Cabrinha and invert. "When you're upside down looking up at the kite, time just stands still...
