First off, it's a very real phenomenon, at least insofar as public opinion polls are real. In the sense in which the term was originally coined, that is, strictly referring to support of the President and his policies, the gap is considerable and apparently growing. Last fall Mr. Reagan's overall approval rating showed a nine-point differential between women and men polled by Newsweek.
