...Goodman states that he is "not concerned" about the futures of the Russian soldiers photographed with him. No one with any intelligence would hold two ordinary conscripts responsible for Communist policies or actions. Mr. Goodman has repaid their friendship, even if gained by deceit, by rendering them liable to disciplinary action. Surely it was not necessary to publish this photograph, unless Mr. Goodman just likes to see his picture in the papers. But this very idea is, of course, too farfetched to be seriously considered...
Sally is the center of attention for a play that has no center itself. There is expressive writing, deft direction, some touching minor characters. But the camera cannot quite decide between an individual photograph and a group picture, a person and a place. Thursday, dressed as a cowboy, he posed for a photograph scheduled to appear in Look magazine. Friday, he turned artisan and spent the day soldering together metal frames for hoop skirts that will be worn by the Rockettes of Radio City's Music Hall in their Christmas show...
...Schaas-berg prescribed simple remedies, such as an herbal tea from the local chemist's, or what he calls "harmless drops." Even the Latin names for the prescriptions "just came" to him, he claimed. If the patient could not get to Maastricht, but sent a letter with a photograph or a ring enclosed, Schaasberg was willing to treat him by mail...
