...concert of the Glee Club and Pierian Sodality gave rise to several reflections on the subject of our college song. It has often been commented on that "Fair Harvard" should remain forever the distinctly Harvard song. Setting aside the hymn like character of the air, it seems a pity that a college that has graduated so many musicians has not been able to obtain for itself an original production more suitable to the many occasions when such a song is required. ...tragick cantata, "The Grasshopper," was the hit of the evening. As the first attempt of the Pierian and Glee Club together at concerted music it was full of interest and particularly creditable. The solos of Messrs. Howe, McCagg, Lilienthal, Thorndike and Easton were well given and well received. It was in this number, and in the Hymn to Odin and Image of the Rose, that the Glee Club made its best appearance.
