Some of the stories of the last number of the Advocate are unusually good. The best of them is undoubtedly "Wasted," a very pleasing and touching sketch by A. S. Pier. John Green contributes a dialect story entitled "The Brakeman's Story." It is very well done. Two sketches by Chamberlin are only mediocre. The first is the better of the two, for while the second is much the better subject, the reader is perhaps a little tired toward the end of being told "he lay on the desert." G. C.
