Politicians are scared because they showed up for work last Thursday morning with the wrong answers. That National Commission on Character Development the Senate approved on Wednesday seemed aimed at some other problem on some other planet. Even as T.J. Solomon was loading his weapons, even as President Clinton was preparing to fly out to Littleton to mark the one-month anniversary of the massacre, the Senate was debating a juvenile-crime bill. ...companies like Ford what they're planning, and reminding them that it never hurts to be out front on this type of thing." It's obvious that Ford cherishes its reputation as a leader in this area -- the company is the sole sponsor of TIME's "Heroes of the Planet" series -- but Thompson says the private sector's heart is in the right place too. ...soulless revelation. Every five minutes a new character makes its incredibly propitious entrance into the Star Wars saga--R2-D2 is the droid that saves the queen's ship from destruction and C-3PO was Darth Vader's boyhood engineering hobby--Tatooine just happens to be the most convenient planet for a pit stop...
