...first dress rehearsal of the Cercle play for this year, Bergerac's "Le Pedant Joue," will be held this evening at 7 o'clock in Brattle Hall. This will probably be the first time that the play has been put on the stage, although large parts have been taken bodily from it by more popular authors, especially Moliere. The original play contained five acts, but in order to bring it into suitable compass for amateur theatricals it has been found necessary to cut it down to three acts. This work was done by M. C. H. This leaves a nucleus of four men for the team next year. Losey '03, who played a strong game at centre for the freshmen, will be a promising candidate for the university team next year. Dana '03, a substitute on this year...
Hallowell and Campbell will both be back next year. They are the best pair of ends Harvard has ever had. Both of the substitutes, Hawkins and Ristine, will also return. Kendall and Gierasch have two more years in College and Sawin one. For fullback there will be a hard contest between Reid and Ellis, both of whom graduate in 1901. A possible third man is Stillman, the Freshman, whose punting is of a high order...
...Freshman eleven, the possibilities of Graydon and Stillman must be considered. Captain Baldwin will make a good quarterback, with a chance for the first eleven when Daly leaves. Nickerson, tackle, and Clark, end, are both promising players. Hersey is a good running halfback, but has little idea of team play. Kernan, substitute back, has great abilities as a punter, which could well be developed...
