...first two of these plays were written by Sir Rabindranath Tagore, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1918, an award made but twice to English speaking men. "The Farewell Curse" is a poetic playlet of love and duty, which endeavors to develop the idea that learning without love is incomplete. "The Maharani of Arakan" is a romantic comedy, and to those who see below the surface of the allegory there is the lesson of the endeavor of Englishmen and Hindus toward reconciliation...
...Board Steps". A clever "rehearsal", with humour ranging from satire to slap-stick, is Vistor Moore and Emma Littlefield's skit "Change Your Act or Go Back to the Woods". Greenlee and Drayton offer some bright polylinguistic dancing. Due to the length of the many acts, there is no playlet this week...
Mason and Keeler in "Married" would, or should be at the top of an unusual bill, which this week's is not. As it is, this eleven playlet after the better Hopwood manner (you know where the scene is laid) is worth a hundred "Getting Gertie's Garters" and "Demi-Virgins", and shows what vaudeville can be when it tries to break the spell the mawkish hack writers. With the aid of three small boys he stages a remarkable hubbub--the best laugh producer of the evening. Frank Wilcox is responsible for an interesting playlet; he is always in trouble because the women would fall in love with him at first sight. Two song and dance acts, one by Harry and Grace Elisworth, the other by Jay Dillon and Betty Parker complete the bill. Rarely has Keith's offered a more varied and interesting show...
