Under the vigorous coaching of Captain Reid, the whole squad has been well drilled in hard, fast play. The backing-up is, perhaps, the best feature of the work at present. In this, the effect of good coaching is especially apparent, great stress being laid upon the principle of having the fielders anticipate the play, and help each other out. The base running is rather poor, except in a few individual cases. ...yesterday's practice the University eleven played with less life than usual. This was owing mainly to the fact that a large number of players were allowed to take the day off.
