Having dined on wine, salad and chocolate cake last Thursday, I was in the proper mood to enjoy "Me and My Galaxy," which was characterized by catchy music, showy sets, stunning costumes, a rollicking band, zippy choreography, the usual dastardly puns and men in short skirts. The plot (plot?) limped once in a while, and the singers sometimes could not make themselves heard over the band, but the energy of the actors and the pulse of the music lifted the play from these occasional doldrums...
...could be the starting plot point of a zippy new musical: spunky kid takes on Broadway producers after she gets fired from their show. JOANNA PACITTI earned the title role in the revival of the '70s musical Annie by winning a splashy, highly publicized talent contest. But after more than 100 performances on the road, producers executed what a tabloid called a "coup d'tot" and replaced her with understudy Brittny Kissinger. "The actress and the part never came together the way we felt they needed to," said producer Timothy Childs. "My heart was cut in half," says Joanna, whose...

...plot concerns the trials and tribulations of a black lower-middle-class family in 1957. The play revolves around three themes: sports, death and (not surprisingly) the image of fences. Sports provides a major point of contention in the family. Troy's son Corey (Dahni-El Giles '99) wants to play football and win a scholarship to college. But Troy was discriminated against while playing baseball when he was younger and his bitterness clouds his dealings with...
...plot, which cunningly loops itself like a Mobius strip with sprocket holes, starts with a couple, Fred (Bill Pullman) and Renee (Patricia Arquette), troubled about intrusions into their home and their private lives. Renee vanishes, and the film changes lanes. It follows Pete (Balthazar Getty), a grease monkey who dumps his girlfriend (Natasha Gregson Wagner) and takes up with a gangster (Robert Loggia) and his moll. Damned if this new femme fatale doesn't look exactly like Renee, but with platinum blond hair...
