Construction, truck noise, and bright lights after six o’clock have led Allston residents to complain about the Harvard Allston Science Complex. Although Harvard had previously agreed to work only from 7 AM to 6 PM, the city’s Inspectional Services Department issued a permit allowing construction until 8 PM. Harvard University has since apologized, but this issue brings attention once again to the need of the University to communicate with the residents of the area if it wants to cultivate good relations. Harvard has already talked about putting future programs into place, benefiting residents...
...appears Chae was able to enter the premises of the ancient gate fairly easily. According to police, the 70-year-old climbed over a wall and used a ladder to enter the pavilion Sunday night, and set the blaze using three bottles of paint thinner just before 9 pm. Like many of Korea's historical buildings, the ancient gate was guarded only until the early evening. ...While I condemn Bhutto's assassination, I have not forgotten what it was like to live in a country run by her. Both her terms as PM were marred by corruption scandals. She actively supported the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan. She twice squandered the opportunity to make any tangible difference in the lives of the masses who voted her in. Her legacy is one not of democracy but of kleptocracy. Her will, which named her husband as her successor, underlines her lack of commitment to democracy. To her, political power was something you could inherit and pass on to family...
