Talk to business owners, though, and the picture is a lot more complicated. A poll conducted at the end of last year by the National Federation of Independent Business, a small-business trade group, found that companies were overwhelmingly more concerned about slow or declining sales than access to credit. A full 51% of businesses cited sales as their top concern, while only 8% cited the ability to borrow money. An additional 22% cited uncertainty as their biggest worry. In unstable times, even healthy companies are unlikely to want to take on debt. (See the top 10 bankruptcies...
...companies conducted by the World Economic Forum earlier this month, Germany ranked 14th out of 20 countries in terms of the percentage of women employed. The study found that only 33% of employees at the German companies surveyed are women, compared with 52% at the American companies in the poll and 48% at the Spanish firms. Moreover, only 6% of chief executives in Germany are women, compared with 12% in Norway. (Kinney has published four books in the series, with a fifth due out this year...
...Americans will never be realized. "Is somebody's elderly parent or relative going to be put to death by a death panel?" he asks. "No. It doesn't exist." Third, a sizable chunk of those who oppose the current bill - roughly 1 in 6 in a January CNN poll - want the bill to be even more liberal...
...corps. In a briefing on Tuesday, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs fielded more than 20 questions and follow-ups related to the process of passing health care reform. But is the public actually bothered by the convoluted process Democrats may use to pass reform? An NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released on Tuesday and conducted on March 10 showed that just 35% of Americans oppose reconciliation, while 26% supported it and 37% said they didn't know enough about it to have an opinion...
