...work displays a transcendence of the image-sound boundary, a transcendence which generates psychological disruption and shock in the viewer. But further than this analysis, we should not attempt to ponder. Any meaning the film has is what it arouses in the individual; there is no universal symbolism to the images or music. Attempting to unravel such a non-existent meaning would be futile, and would only serve to destroy the personal connection for which the film strives...

...huge problems. The mood in Beijing isn't what you might expect from a nation that grew at some 9% in 2009. There is some arrogant chest slapping, to be sure, but it is mixed with plenty of exhausted eye rubbing. To sit with China's leaders as they ponder the enormous challenges facing them in financial markets, corruption, civilian-military relations, Tibet, Xinjiang and a dozen other areas is a reminder of the luxury Americans have to consider one problem like health care for a year. (And while spending hours stuck in New York City-area rush-hour traffic, they had plenty of time to ponder.) After all, in many ways fantasy teams are similar to stock portfolios, with players as the assets. If Bloomberg could analyze a stock via every imaginable statistic and performance graphic, why couldn't the company do the same for athletes? With fantasy sports now a $4.5 billion industry, wouldn...
