Passim's, besides serving coffee and good music, is showing "I Ching" watercolors by Martha Jane Mount. Mount works with a very wet brush loaded with strong colors, which she allows to spread and pool in seemingly random patterns. The lush atmospheric effects and abstract patterns Mount creates, many suggestive of land or seascapes, really need a larger format than she gives them in these small paintings.
