Luis Bello, the experienced matador, gradually becomes aware of the power of the bulls and afraid of their horns. His wariness makes him a poor fighter. A fine contrast is created between Luis and his younger brother, Pepe, a new matador who is eager to fight and does not know of fear. The spirit of the fight eventually returns to Luis and drives out the fear, but the reader is left with a vivid impression of the power of sharp horns...

...critical approval. However, it failed to meet with the approval of the Legion of Decency, an organization which "rates" every film for Roman Catholic consumption. The American distributors were unwilling to offer the film for the national market until it had been cleared by the Legion, being fearful of poor business. By making three cuts; the film has now been cleared. Through its unofficial pressure, the Roman Catholic group has again censored films for non-Catholics as well. I strenuously object. George A. Harvard didn't gain the lead until the halfway mark. Stroke Bill Curwen had been setting a steady 32 beat and then slowly increased it to 36 to pull even with the Penn beat which was stroking at 39. The Crimson's terrific sprint, coupled with Penn's poor steering, gave Harvard a two-thirds length victory victory and with it the championship...
