She gives none, leaving the reader only with well-established facts: McCain was a lonely GOP voice and vote opposing Bush’s tax cuts because they were fiscally irresponsible. He has long opposed pork, and whether the author knows it or not, he was specifically referring to a infamous piece of pork in his reference...

At a time when both parties are worried about pork-barrel spending, Murtha's longtime role on the House Appropriations Committee, where he secured members' votes with promises of getting special spending earmarks in their districts, could send the wrong message. Also, Murtha doesn't have the perfect record for a party trying to ease voters' concerns about Washington corruption...
