Larson, an economics concentrator in Eliot House who is also a Crimson editor, has dedicated a significant portion of her college career to studying women’s issues. She edited a collection of essays entitled “Skirting Tradition: Women in Politics Speak to the Next Generation,” which came out this February. Larson also authored a column for The Crimson on women’s issues at Harvard, and researched competition among school-aged girls and boys for her senior thesis. ...Japanese strategy has been paying dividends. Since 1983 Japanese companies have raised their share of the American semiconductor market from 13% to an estimated 15%. Their biggest gains, though, have been overseas. While the U.S. portion of worldwide chip sales fell from 61% to 51% between 1980 and 1984, the Japanese share climbed from 26% to 40%. Draconian measures may also be in store for an area reaching well beyond Arizona. Six other states (Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Nevada and California) fall inside the Colorado River basin. Under an agreement reached in 1922, each state is entitled to a portion of the river's waters. Arizona's share was set at 2.8 million acre-feet, roughly one-fifth of the Colorado's flow.
