My wife and I are qualified to judge a portrait by 40-odd years of sympathetic observance of the Western world, and to us the haunted ghost on the cover bears no relation to the womanly artist glimpsed in the photos and the warm person who certainly comes through in the text. Knowledgeable as some of your readers may be in the language of modern art, they are simply too few to justify TIME'S addressing them...
