...copy of TIME. (I always turn to Music first, then Art, People third, and then to the front inside cover and read straight through to the ad on the back.) I never did get beyond Art of that issue, however, because there was a self-portrait and the pathetic story of Sekoto! "I dashed back to the gallery waving my copy of TIME, and showed it to De Cardonne, saying, 'Let's get this to Sekoto right away!' Imagine my astonishment when he called into the little back room where he had been preparing some food...
Honey & Whistles. In the mass it was a conservative show, crammed with more or less competent studies of tired nudes, slick portraits and landscape reminders of pleasant vacations. Instead of the rose-covered cottages and shady elms in similar U.S. landscapes, there were purple-shadowed chateaux and blue and green glimpses of the Cote d'Azur. The Italian glitter girl, Valentina Cortesa, seems a likely candidate for the top-salaried star bracket. In the role of a waterfront fixture, she looks like an unemployed countess, but she spikes the role with a sweater-girl figure, viva-ciousness and great self-assurance...
