...honor, United Feature Syndicate, which distributes the Peanuts comic strip created by Charles Schulz, has sued Maternity Shop Owner Bernard Poticha. Charging copyright infringement and unfair trade practices, the lawsuit demands that Poticha stop using the ad and seeks $50,000 damages. Lucy "has been consistently and continuously portrayed ... as a young, unmarried girl," says the complaint. To portray her as pregnant is "degrading and offensive ... and tends to destroy the wholesome image." The next thing you know, Dick Tracy will sell out to the mob, Daddy Warbucks will go broke, and Charlie Brown will start pitching no-hitters...
...warmly greeted Kirchschläger, walked with a slight limp by the honor guard and then was driven straight to his quarters in the Soviet embassy, a tree-shaded stone building that was built in the 19th century. Members of the Soviet advance team had taken great pains to portray Brezhnev as alert and eager for the summit and in no way hampered by ill health. Still, Austrian officials took no chances. Leaflets left by the group tried to portray its members as devoted to "Islam without the clergy." But many observers, in fact, believe that the professionally carried-out assassinations were the work of former SAVAK agents bent on creating anarchy or of vengeance squads associated with former top officials who have been executed...
...full throated and nasty: she enjoyed her work and took no pains to hide that fact. Bass lacks the stage presence to carry it off, and in striving after open evil loses the chance to convey the more understated evil of Daltry's Queen. She never manages to portray a character that can convincingly sing "I'll show him what he could be now/just give me one night/I'm the gypsy, the Acid Queen/Pay before we start." Finally the chorus, though it can sing, never displays much passion or dynamic range as actors until the final scene of the show...
