Media outlets and personalities like O’Reilly made a paltry and delayed effort at understanding Corker’s position, choosing to portray the special assistant to the dean for social planning as some kind of omnibus party planner responsible for prying Harvard students from their books onto the dance floor, against their wishes. Moreover, the media’s long belated reporting of Corker’s appointment is sloppy journalism, reflecting just how eager media outlets are to perpetuate stereotypes of Harvard students that are utterly untrue in the name of filling space on a slow...

...Keep Bollywood Clean Your notebook item "Bolly-bad!" described some new Bollywood movies that portray promiscuity, prostitution and gay relationships [Dec. 13]. India is famous for its rich tradition and culture, but these days our media stars are blindly following vulgar Western trends emphasizing sexuality. Is this wise? Does one become modern by wearing a short dress? Rubbish! Modernity can only be achieved by having a free mind, a pure soul and fine thoughts. ...David Beckham to biblical status last week, exhibiting wax figures of him and his wife Victoria, a.k.a. Posh Spice, as Joseph and Mary. As pop singer Kylie Minogue hovers angelically, Hugh Grant and Samuel L. Jackson appear as shepherds while Tony Blair, George W. Bush and Prince Philip portray wise men in the display, which will stay up until January. The Vatican has called the scene blasphemous. And with Posh as the Virgin, the church may have a point...
