About five billion pounds of detergents are now being used annually, said Reuss. On the average, each pound contains about 40% phosphate, which does a fine job of cleaning dishes and clothes. But once flushed down the drain, it begins its environmental dirty work. Reuss has introduced a bill that would ban the manufacture and importation of detergents containing phosphate after June...
...budding poets soon wilt and retire rather than risking sanity in a quixotic struggle to capture and liberate something in themselves. Those who continue probably have no choice. Ironically, that is the only way they can survive. Meanwhile, aspiring writers are stricken with self-doubt about writing. Yet the book is funny, particularly on the sadistic Tom-and-Jerry cartoon level of violence, because the characters aren't real and nothing is really at stake but a few laughs...
Once again, the Crimson trailed 13-0 after the 126-pound bout, then captain Paul Catinella lost a 7-6 decision in the 142-pound bout and Pat Coleman was tied in the 150-pound contest to dim Harvard's hopes for its third match win of the season...
