Despite the comment and lack of comment, the fact remains that Russia has done something that looks pretty impressive to the average man. A 180 pound ball is a small one, no doubt about that, but what will follow this? A 1,800 pound ball, then a 18,000 pound ball. When the satellites get that big it seems that the Russians might want to put little men in them and give the little men big guns...

...these brutal, bare-knuckled bouts (there goes Kimbo left-hooking some guy in the face, there's a Kimbo victim lying dazed and bloodied on the ground) drew over 10 million hits on YouTube. ProElite signed him up, and he has dominated his first three MMA fights. The 250-pound ball of fury might be the first Internet-generated athlete to reach mainstream superstardom. ...very good at making insects," says David Gracer, one of the chefs at the Richmond festival and the founder of future bug purveyor Sunrise Land Shrimp. Insects require little room and few resources to grow. For instance, it takes far less water to raise a third of a pound (150 g) of grasshoppers than the staggering 869 gal. Colorado State's Grandin, who helped refine standards for humane livestock slaughter, says Americans have an "ick" factor when it comes to the idea of horseflesh, equating it, she says "killing and eating pets." But, Grandin argues, "the problem is, these are 800- to 1,200-pound pets. When they shut down those plants, I said we've got to avoid alternatives worse than slaughter. But we have not, and all my worse nightmares have come true...

...would be naive and insulting and stupid to try and pretend this hasn't been a enormous blow for the Labour Party," says Labour MP Stephen Pound of the Crewe result. "But we're not going to turn it round by defenestrating our leader, or trying to go downmarket after the Tory vote. To get rid of the Prime Minister would simply underline any accusations of division in the party and utterly guarantee we would lose the next election." Hardly a ringing endorsement, but perhaps an indication that for better or worse, Brown could have more months or even years...
