...November album for the third consecutive year with S & M, a live recording of the epic concert they held with the San Francisco Symphony last April. It's a risky experiment, but the double disc, which sprawls over 21 tracks, shows that the gambit paid off. The sheer lyrical power of the orchestra blends seamlessly with Metallica's music to staggering effect, as the booming brass and ghostly strings give songs like "Wherever I May Roam" and "For Whom the Bell Tolls" eerie new dimensions. Blistering epics like "Bleeding Me" and "The Outlaw Torn" become even more grandiose in scale...

Whether enlivening the track with harder beats for the dance floor or reducing the superfluous noise of a track down to the starkest voices, the power of the remix is to transform. Starting from the base of Faithless' sophomore album Sunday 8 PM, the recently released Special Edition includes, in addition to the original, a companion Saturday 3 AM disk chock full of remixes. ...shines through. John Coffey possesses the mysterious ability to heal wounds and illnesses with his touch; his hand starts to glow with a mystical light, and his healings are nothing short of miraculous. His touch cures Edgecomb's urinary tract infection and revives a dead Mr. Jingles, and his power is so strong that light bulbs in his proximity shatter before the sheer concentrated energy. After each healing, the harmful spirits, in the form of a black swarm, are coughed up and released from Coffey's mouth. (Willing suspension of disbelief? Sure, why not.) Convincing his fellow guards of John...

...gift from God? That's certainly what it seems like. Coffey truly seems to be a Christ figure - a man with mysterious origins, a pure soul, and the power to heal. Furthermore, there are two executions that take place before John is scheduled to die - in both cases, the issue of penance is key. Perhaps they represent the two thieves who died alonside Jesus? The allusion seems too obvious to ignore...

Although NATO strongly backs the government of President Milo Djukanovic, its official position is that Montenegro should remain an autonomous part of the Yugoslav federation. But remaining in the federation looks increasingly unviable for Djukanovic's government as long as Milosevic remains in power. And with Belgrade having just been granted $300 million in reconstruction aid by China, Milosevic doesn't look like he's about to leave the scene. "So the question isn't whether there'll be a confrontation, but when it will happen," says Anastasijevic. "But rather than simply send in his army, Milosevic may choose instead...
