DIED. RAY BARRETTO, 76, Grammy-winning "godfather" of Latin jazz; in Hackensack, N.J. Renowned for integrating the conga into jazz, he decided to become a musician after hearing a Dizzy Gillespie recording featuring Cuban percussionist Chano Pozo.
