...talented leads almost redeem this lackluster show. Vincent Yao Adzovie shines in the part of Lejoka-Brown, enlivening this production with his timing and enthusiasm. Christine Omodi-Engola convincingly portrays the stabilizing force of the show, Mama Rashida. Although Abigail Kolodny, as Liza, offers the audience some priceless facial expressions, it soon becomes apparent that these are a dime-a-dozen, and she quickly uses up the few she has. One of the most comical aspects of the play is the presence of Okonkwo, Lejoka-Brown's sidekick, played by Eliott Fan. His acting is competent but his character seems...
...grass that graced the North American plains. Gone too are the lush Bahamian jungles that greeted Christopher Columbus and his sea-weary men. Today these lost landscapes, like vanished civilizations, exist only as mirages that dance in the mind's eye. And until recently, any notion that such priceless heirlooms might be reclaimed would have been dismissed as hopelessly quixotic...
...band's exploits bring to mind Rob Reiner's priceless 1984 film This Is Spinal Tap, a pseudo-rock documentary chronicling the disastrous final American tour of the world's stupidest rock band. And 9 is a priceless aid to shopkeepers, who will keep on charging $9.99 or $49.95 till the end of time. In binary terms, 9 is 1001 -- the number of adventure and romance; in England you dial 999 for emergencies (to reverse, perhaps, the diabolic effect of 666). Yet 9 also has an edge...
...Postal Service will soon be offering some priceless stamps. Literally. In June it began producing its latest line of Christmas stamps in the midst of a continuing rate war with its overseer, the Postal Rate Commission. The Postal Service is dissatisfied with the current 29 cents price of a first-class stamp, which the Rate Commission approved in January in defiance of a long-standing request for a 30 cents stamp. The extra penny would bring in $850 million a year for the Postal Service, which is as hard hit by the recession as any business. The Postal Service...
