Harvard plays the first game of the Yale series this afternoon on Soldiers Field at 3 o'clock. After recently defeating Princeton in two successive games, Yale would seem to have a decided advantage over Harvard. Yale's nine not only made more hits in the series, but also showed far more life and spirit than did Harvard in the two Princeton games. In fact Yale has shown a remarkable improvement over her play early in the season...
Since the Princeton games, however, the Harvard nine has taken advantage of the coaching of the graduates who have come out, and today the nine will go into the game much strengthened by the work of the past few weeks...
...thinking over the Princeton game of a few weeks ago the casual observer might say, "surely there was cheering enough." True, but that cheering did not come at the right time. When the chances of the Harvard nine seemed to improve through the errors of the visiting team, the applause was of the loudest, but when the home nine were demoralized there was not the slightest effort to help them. We should be sorry to see a repetition of this on Thursday...
