...Professor Charles Eliot Norton, has recently been placed on exhibition in the Fogg Museum. The portrait was at Llanshaw Court, in Gloucester-shire, for more than three centuries. It bears a close resemblance to the only known authentic portrait of Chaucer, the miniature in Occleve's "De regimine principum," written in 1411-12, and also to a later full-length portrait in another British Museum manuscript. It has been known in recent years as the Seddon portrait. Mr. James Loeb presented it to Professor Norton, who bequeathed it to the Library with the request that it be inscribed...
